Open MRI
For examining all joints and extremities – also particularly suitable for patients with claustrophobia or obesity.

What is an Open MRI?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging technique that works without X-ray radiation. Our open modern MRI system provides maximum patient comfort while maintaining optimal image quality.
Unlike closed MRI systems ("tube"), patients can be examined in an open environment at our facility. The lateral opening allows an unobstructed view and significantly reduces anxiety.
MRI uses strong magnetic fields to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body. We can particularly well visualize soft tissues such as cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and muscles – but bony structures are also depicted with precision.
Benefits of Open MRI
Applications
Open MRI is excellent for diagnosing:
Insurance Coverage
Costs are not routinely covered by statutory health insurance, but may be applied for under certain conditions (e.g. claustrophobia). Private health insurance covers the costs as standard.
Examination Procedure
An MRI examination takes between 20 and 45 minutes depending on the clinical question. You lie comfortably on a table. The open design allows you to look outward throughout the entire examination.
All metallic objects must be removed before the examination. Please inform us in advance if you have implants or a pacemaker.
